Our wedding videographers in Tampa have come to love doing weddings in this beautiful “city by the bay”. Tampa is increasingly becoming a favorite location for destination weddings, with some unique locations for weddings. We will share a few tips on some of the more popular Tampa wedding venues.
What better way to enjoy the lights of Downtown Tampa than on one of Yacht Starship’s Fleet of yachts. Yacht Starship has 2 different Yachts sailing out of Tampa currrently. The Yacht Starship 2 is the midsize Yacht which you can see in the video above can easily accomodate 150 passengers. The Yacht Starship 1 is the Largest ship which can hold 600 passengers. Soon the Yacht Sensation, the smallest of the fleet, has been sailing out of clearwater will be moved to Tampa for smaller wedding, as the new Yacht Starship 4 (similiar size to Starship 2) will be sailing out of Clearwater Beach. The staff of Yacht Starship is amazingly friendly, the food is great, and the night scenery sailing down the channels in downtown Tampa provide a nice romantic atmosphere.
At the Florida Aquarium’s Coral Reef Room, the views are “breath-taking”. This beautiful ceremony location features a 500,000 gallon Floor to Ceiling Tank. We purchased $1,600 low light lense specifically for doing weddings in this room. It is very important to have experience videographers who know how to shoot in a low light atmosphere and have the right equipment for it. As a videographer you want to use little to know lighting because the light can reflect on the glass and therefore interfere with the photographers pictrues, as well as you own video. Each wedding I do in this room, I draw up what looks like a game plan on a football chalk board with x’s and o’s. We like to shoot with multiple cameras, and it takes some planning to determine what camera goes where with what lense, and where they move throughout the ceremony. See our Pinterest page that is dedicated to weddings at The Florida Aquarium.
One of the most popular wedding venues in Tampa is The Rusty Pelican a well known restaurant on Rocky Point. This can be a very challenging venue to shot at, because of the angle the sun shines on the ceremony area. Many time there will be a Sun Shadow border that apears right in the ceremony area. This is tricky, because we will be shooting the bridesmaids walking down the aisle and they will be in the sun, however, at some point during the processional they cross over into the shade. As a result, a videographer has to make several adjustments with his camera and if they are not make, parts of the video will be either over-exposed or too dark.
Davis Island Garden Club provides a colorful natural scenery with its lush tropical and subtropical plants and a gazebo that sits on the Tampa Waterfront. It is very convenient, and does not have the restrictions that other wedding venues can have. There is no time restrictions, as you rent the venue for the whole day so plenty of time to set up decorations and allow the reception to go late into the evening. It has a back patio under covering which is perfect for the cocktail hour and to set up your bar at. This garden area gives our wedding videographers in Tampa a variety of backgrounds for cinematic video. In the video above we used 5 cameras and a drone. We mounted one camera on the gazebo and the other on the ground which gaved you great perspectives of the wedding.
In the center of Downtown Tampa is the Downtown Hilton. A scenic urban brick waterfall in Franklin Street Mall provides excellent opportunities for photography and Video. Opening in September will be the new Franklin Terrace, with a beautiful view of the the Franklin Street Mall. The Hilton is one of the few venues that can accomodate very large weddings. It is also an easy walk from the Hilton to the historic Tampa Theatre, which always makes for a great backgrown in front of the lighted Marquee.
Downtown Tampa continues to grow and has several great hotels that are very popular with weddings including The Marriott Waterside an elegant five-star hotel, The Embassy Suites Downtown Tampa, provides great areas for contemporary photography, and The Westin Harbour Island Hotel. Harbour Island being right on the Channel gives you great water scenery and with the night lights reflecting on the water, it, allows for some spectacular photography. We film many of our Love Stories in the Downtown Tampa, because the night lighting around Harbour Island & Tampa Convention Center is glistening.
One of the faster growing wedding venues in Tampa is the Crystal Ballroom. The Crystal Ballroom has several locations across the state including 2 in the Tampa Bay Area. The Crystal Ballroom Tampa is close to the airport which makes it convenient if you have out of town guests. The ballroom itself is very nice with chandeliers and a nice wooden dancefloor which covers the whole ballroom. If having a wedding here, it is probably a good idea to go to alternate location for pictures like we did with the bride who did the first look at the University of Tampa.
Tampa also has some great Country Clubs. We love green in the background, because it tends to provide better contrast to your pictures, which makes your colors “pop”. Tampa Palms Country Club is one of our favorites, because like most good country clubs, it has lakes, wooden bridges, rolling hills, trees, however, at Tampa Palms they are all right near the ceremony site(see video above). Therefore the bridal party does not have to walk very far. The ceremony is in the beautiful circular veranda overlooking the lake and waterfall. Tampa Palms also has elegant pillars on the front part of the building which gives you opportunities for some stunning elegant wedding photos. Some other great country clubs our wedding videographers in Tampa have shot at are Pebble Creek, Hunters Green Country Club and Carrollwood Country Club.
Now if you want a tropical venue, try The Lowry Park Zoo provides a nice tropical atmosphere for your wedding, and great opportunities for unique and exotic wedding video. The Ituri Forest gives a tranquil ambient tropical surroundings for the wedding ceremony. Where else can you get married, surrounded by Giraffes, Zebras, Pigmy Hippos, and other exotic animals. At Lowry Park zoo, you can experience Animal Encounters, a time after the ceremony where the guests, and the bride and groom get to touch and feed exotic animals. Wedding receptions at the Safari Lodge are just incredible, its one of the few venues where you really do not need any uplighting.
