April wedding at the Tradewinds Island Resort
Windy Day on St Pete Beach creates spectacular aerial shots of waves
A windy April day on this wedding at the Tradewinds Island Resort of Kristin & David Villanueva. The wind was great as it created stunning aerial shots from our drone. Fortunately we had a cordless mic on the groom. The sound from the mic on all 4 cameras was just wind noise, however from our cordless mic, it was great.
We love the Tradewinds as there are so many opportunities for wedding photography. There is plenty of variety on property rather than just the ocean and the beach. This can be important for a photographer as when the sun is very bright, it is good to have areas in the shade to shoot in, but for the comfort of the subjects, but also for the contrast of the pictures. The beautiful courtyard allowed us to shoot pictures with plenty of tropical landscaping yet away from the harshness of the sun. We started with the groomsmen near Pirate Island at the Tradewinds, with a antique pirate ship, fancy little bridges, and a little river. There is also a little bar where the groomsmen went in to do a toast before the wedding. When shooting a wedding at the Tradewinds we always seem to experience good luck with great sunsets and birds flying in the background.
The reception took place on the Breck Deck, which is located on the north side of the Tradewinds Property. The sparkling mini lights provided a nice intimate atmosphere for the reception, which I tried to use as much as I could in the background. The Breck deck is hard to beat during dusk as the light from the sun fades into night.
