April Wedding at Tampa Bay Watch
Gorgeous Waterfront Estuary Makes a Great Venue for Wedding Photography and Video
The best Cake-Smashing on this wedding at Tampa Bay Watch, of Andrea & Jeff Detkas. Our St Petersburg Photographer Marcel and Kevin shot the photos, Randy filmed the video, and Kevin was the DJ. Tampa Bay Watch has always been one of our favorite venues due to the rich contrast it provides for a wedding photographer. It sits just outside of Ft DeSoto in Tierra Verde. It is a wildlife restoration and education center by day and a beautiful wedding venue by evening amidst a scenic estuary in southern Pinellas County. The mouth of Tampa Bay comes right up to the ceremony site.
Andreas main color of yellow mixed with the green grass provided a good color combination, not to mention they are Oregon Duck Colors, the bride and groom both fans of. During the brightness of the day we like to use the lawn and the huge oak trees on property which provide a good background and prevents back lighting issues. Also the Nautical Blue color of the two buildings modeled after traditional Florida coastal architecture make good backgrounds with a real lighthouse on top of the reception building. The stairs also are ideal for big group shots on weddings at Tampa Bay Watch. During sunset which the sun light is softer we like to utilize the pier for shots with great water and sky backgrounds.
The reception was on the 2nd floor of the main building which has bamboo flooring and in impressive wrap around open-air deck for the cocktail hour. We ended up moving the DJ to the deck where the guests enjoyed the dancing with the breeze from the Bay.
